• Mass spectrometry: Characterization of organic (heterocyclic, organofluorine componds etc.) and organometallic/organometalloid compounds (ferrocene derivatives, transition metal carbonyl, chalcocarbonyl, dinitrogen and isocyanide complexes, organosilicon, -tin and -bismuth compounds etc.) using electron impact (EI)-mass spectrometry
• Analytical chemistry: determination of plant volatile compounds using solid phase microextraction gas chromatography mass spectrometry (SPME/GCMS)
• Synthetic organometallic chemistry: preparations of main group and transition metal-organic compounds using inert athmosphere techniques
• Photoelectron spectroscopy (PES): Characterization of the electronic structure of stable and transient organometallic compounds. gas-phase reactions. electronic structure - activity relationships in organometallic compounds  
• Quantum Chemistry: ab initio quantum chemistry and molecular dynamics (Car-Parrinello) of transition metal complexes and their reactions.
